Since being founded in 1974, Bennett has been a supporter of community initiatives involving family, and lending community support to organizations in need. When Joey Rhoden, Senior Patrol Leader of BSA Troop 550 in Warner Robins, GA, proposed his ambitious dream of creating a place of remembrance and honor for wounded warriors of America, Bennett was more than willing to lend part of the contribution needed to bring his dream into fruition.

The official unveiling of the Wounded Warrior gazebo memorial took place June 13th 2012, at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, GA. In efforts to help Joey Rhoden, a Bennett funded grant was used to help purchase materials being used in the construction of gazebo memorial. Bennett, being a company comprised of a number of former U.S. veterans, attended the honorary ceremony. "We saw young Joey's valiant efforts as an opportunity to show our veterans how much we appreciate their hard work and service to this great country," said Phil Hibbs, V.P. of Safety at Bennett & Vietnam era U.S. Navy Veteran.

The completion of an project that benefits the community is one of the final tasks required before a Boy Scout can obtain the highest rank in Scouting, that of Eagle Scout. "I knew that I wanted to do something to help the military and our veterans," replied Joey Rhoden. "I got to thinking about different ideas and realized that there was nothing in our area in honor of the wounded warriors."

Joey Rhoden plans on attending the Naval Academy and eventually joining the Marines after he finishes high school. He hopes that the next time you visit the Museum of Aviation, and happen to stroll pass this gazebo, you will take time to reflect on all of our men and women who put their lives on the line for the freedom of our great nation.
